Coaching is increasingly regarded as a powerful management tool. It is the process of unlocking a person’s potential to maximise their own performance.
In the workplace, coaching is often undertaken by the line manager and involves a professional supporting relationship that focuses on the needs of the employee and the goals of an organisation. The line manager’s role is to support and guide the employee to find their own solutions, to learn, reflect and grow.
The benefits of workplace coaching include improved performance, empowering and engaging individuals towards goals, improved relationships and communication, supporting people through change, and improved staff morale and retention. Coaching can also help manage performance issues and workplace challenges proactively before they become major problems.
This two-day Coaching Skills for Managers course will explore how coaching skills can be applied in your day-to-day management practice as well as considering how organisations can move towards a ‘coaching culture’.
Graeme Borrill is an ILM Level 7 accredited leadership mentor and executive coach.
