If you work in a support role, you are likely to encounter cases of domestic abuse that require comprehensive risk assessment and referral to the local Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC), to be managed in partnership with all relevant agencies.
This half-day course provides a practical focus on completing a DASH (Domestic Abuse Stalking and Honour-based Abuse) risk assessment, and making a MARAC referral.
It is most suitable for staff who have already completed an Introduction to Domestic Abuse course or equivalent, and who have a good understanding of trauma-informed practice.
The course is delivered by our partners RISE, with 30+ years of experience supporting survivors in Brighton and Hove in a wide range of contexts.
This course will support you to:
- Develop your understanding of how the DASH assessment works
- Best practice ways to gather the information required from survivors
- How and when to make a MARAC referral
- Information about the forms, process and referral routes focussing on Brighton and Hove but also covering East Sussex and Mid Sussex systems
- Your role once you have made a MARAC referral
Please be aware that due to the sensitive nature of the topic there may be triggering or challenging conversations during the training. Please be mindful of your needs before and during the course to ensure that your wellbeing is a priority. You will not be asked or required to discuss personal experiences and we invite everyone to consider their workload/personal commitments following the course to allow time to transition back into practice appropriately.
Who should attend?
Suitable for all support staff and those working with multiple and complex needs.
Ideally you will have already undertaken a Domestic Abuse and Multiple and Complex Needs or equivalent course, and you should have a good understanding of trauma informed practice.
