Effective performance management helps motivate teams to achieve goals, supports a positive work environment and promotes a culture of continuous improvement.

Being able to recognise, understand and deal with performance issues is an essential skill for all managers. When issues concerning performance are not addressed appropriately and sensitively, it can impact negatively on the whole team.

This one-day course aims to equip managers with the required knowledge, skills, and techniques to be able to confidently address performance in a positive and proactive way.  The course will provide you with best practice guidance on how to investigate and get to the root-cause of performance issues, make timely interventions, and support your teams to reach their performance potential.

Please note, the course will not be looking at vicarious trauma or employee mental health – although its aim is to support a positive and healthy work environment by offering practical tools and strategies on how to engage, motivate and empower teams towards service and organisational goals.

• Identify the core behaviours and environment that drives high performing teams
• Identify common performance issues and approaches for dealing with them
• Identify the core principles of a performance management framework
• Understand the importance of ‘the golden thread’ and engaging individuals in working towards organisational goals
• Set SMART objectives and monitor and record progress and performance
• Provide constructive and sensitive feedback
• Recognise the link to formal performance management policies
