This is a day’s worth of Universal Credit from the basics upwards, and is intended to provide a comprehensive guide to the full service version of UC, which will have been adopted across Brighton, Hove, Eastbourne, Wealden and Hastings by the time the course runs.
The course will incorporate all the changes announced in the November 17 Budget, and will be as up to date as possible, including likely full service dates for Lewes and West Sussex.
This is therefore a timely opportunity to get to grips with UC as it affects us all locally, and to share experiences and problems.
The course ensures you are able to:
- Understand all aspects of the UC claiming, administration and payment processes, including how to work it out and the effect of work and changes of circumstance
- Use excellent tools and resources which you can then signpost to clients and colleagues
- Identify problems, pitfalls, solutions and rays of hope
- Network effectively with other local workers, and share experiences and contacts
Who should attend:
This is a day’s course suitable for staff in support roles who need to feel confident and up to date with their UC knowledge, even if they are new to the subject. People who have done plenty of UC training before, and benefits advice workers doing regular casework, are welcome to attend, but need to be aware that the content may be pitched at too basic a level, depending on who attends.
BHT will be running local UC catch up networking sessions in April, which may be more suitable for those with good technical UC knowledge.
