This introductory course delivered by Homeless Link will explore what Complex Trauma and Trauma Informed Care is, and will provide an opportunity to reflect on how your service can be a safe and empowering environment for staff and the people you support.

You will also be given some practical resources for working in a trauma-informed way and will learn to recognise vicarious trauma within yourself and how to overcome it.

Course Content:

  • An introduction to Complex Trauma and its effect on attachment and the brain
  • An introduction to Trauma Informed Care and learnt practical tips to help support clients to regulate emotion
  • Manage behaviour and risks and create safe and empowering services
  • An opportunity to reflect on your practice in relation to the above
  • Understand what vicarious trauma is and know how to look after yourself

Delegates will be provided with a handbook of resources.

Who is this course for?

Suitable for anyone working with homelessness or people with complex needs, who have a basic or limited knowledge of trauma, or with little experience in the field.

Also suitable for organisations who are not yet, or are in the early stages of, working in a psychologically informed way.
