This unique “fringe theatre style” course takes participants on a fascinating and practical journey through the world of violence and danger.

The training unfolds through a series of dramatised critical incidents bringing the material to life and allowing the participants to consider in detail the point of crisis and the skills needed to achieve a successful resolution.

The course will support you to:

  • understand, assess and manage risk
  • respond to different types of aggression
  • manage your own physical and emotional responses when under threat
  • work effectively alongside colleagues in a crisis

The course will explore the following areas:

  • Reactive, Disturbed and Proactive Aggression
  • Defusing and De-escalating Skills
  • Brain, Body and the Acute Stress Response
  • Dynamic Risk Assessment
  • Rapid Reaction Skills
  • Psychosis Containment Skills
  • Lone-working
  • Teamwork

Who should attend?

Suitable for all frontline staff who face the possibility of aggression or violence in their workplace.

Duration: 

This is a one day course, which will be delivered across 2 x 3 hour sessions on 1st and 2nd November 2023.  Attendance on both sessions is required.   This online course will not be recorded.

 

This course was bloody brilliant.  Pardon my French, but it’s not often that a course is so spot on and a course leader seems so aware of what we have to deal with on a daily basis.
